Theres only one of me but theres a million of you – Roving Eye: James Chance

Do you ever have days where you can only listen to one band or genre of music? Well I do. Quite often actually. Certain moods and temperaments in my case require a very specific soundtrack . Its always been this way for some reason.  Maybe some of you share this mannerism.

I started collecting records when I was thirteen and collected into my 30s, until unfortunately I ended up in a relationship with a sociopath who stole my entire collection. Which is another long and kind of irrelevant story at this point, although there is a part in that tale where he gets fake stomach cancer which was exactly like the plot line from the Royal Tenenbaums, its funny how everything is always clearer in retrospect .

It did take me a long period of mourning before I could even listen to anything, several years in fact.

So, anyhow…

One of my favorite only saxophone lead No Wave band The Contortions & Then James White & the Blacks is my soundtrack for today.

Its just a coincidence that my last music post was about Brain Eno because he produced No New York which features the contortions and also is a must have LP for any record collector. Buy- Contortions is another must have if you are into No Wave its one of my personal favorites.

Something about the noise of the No Wave scene really appeals to me, it is kind of messy so definitely not for everyone.
